Edem Dzakpasu
Edem Dzakpasu currently serves as Vice President, Corporate & Commercial Development where he oversees all efforts in corporate development including identifying, evaluating, negotiating and executing capital raising opportunities and strategic partnerships in addition to structuring commercial initiatives that expand market presence.
Prior to this role, he served as the Sr. Commercial Director, Growth & Strategic Projects where he was responsible for leading the development, negotiation, and execution of commercial agreements for strategic projects and initiatives.
Edem joined LanzaTech in May, 2023 from Cummins where he served as the Sr. Director, Strategy & Chief of Staff, Global Power Generation where he was responsible for setting the strategic direction and driving key initiatives that enabled the $3B global business division to meet its long-term growth, profitability, and product leadership goals.
Prior to joining Cummins, Edem spent close to a decade with Chevron Corporation in a variety of commercial roles with increasing responsibilities. His most recent function was as the Investment Principal of the $400M Future Energy Fund at Chevron Technology Ventures (CTV), the Corporate Venture Capital arm of Chevron, where he originated, executed, and managed a portfolio of VC investments in early-stage start-ups with breakthrough technologies that enable the energy transition. His principal focus areas were: Macro decarbonization, Emerging mobility, Energy decentralization and Circular carbon economy.
Prior to his foray in the energy space, he had a stint as an Associate in the Technology Investment Banking Group at Credit Suisse in San Francisco covering technology companies
Edem started his career as a Semiconductor Manufacturing Engineer with Applied Materials Inc. where he managed global product manufacturing transitions from North America to Asia and has had some entrepreneurial ventures in the e-commerce space.
Edem holds a BSc in Electrical / Electronic Engineering from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Ghana; an MEng in Electrical Engineering from Texas A & M University, College Station, TX and an MBA in Finance, Economics, Entrepreneurship and Strategic Management from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
